Selena Gomez Sees a ‘Future’ with Benny Blanco: “This Is the Safest I’ve Ever Felt”

Selena Gomez has found rare love with Benny Blanco.

In a new cover story for The Hollywood, the Only Murders in the Building star opened up about why she decided to share her relationship with the world, despite previously keeping her love life private.

The Safest I’ve Ever Felt

“I guess this is the safest I’ve ever felt with someone like this, and I see a future with this person,” Gomez, 32, candidly shared.

The Wolves singer began dating the 36-year-old producer in July 2023, though they didn’t make their relationship public until December of that year.

Since then, the couple has occasionally shared private moments of their relationship online, which Gomez explained is a way to protect their peace.

“When you give a little bit [of information], people stop hunting you,” she said. “It’s like, if they hear something, they’ll chase it, but if you say, ‘I did this,’ they’ll be like, ‘Oh, so that’s you, just going to Sushi Park.’”

Balancing Fame and Privacy

Despite being in the spotlight for over 20 years, Gomez revealed that she still feels like she has a private life.
“I have my own places to go, and no one bothers me,” she teased, adding, “There are a lot of my relationships that people don’t see.”

While Gomez has found joy in her personal life, her career has been on a meteoric rise in recent years. From building a billion-dollar empire with her Rare Beauty line to receiving her first Emmy nomination, Gomez is thriving.
“I love where I’m at in every aspect of my life right now, and I’m really proud of the journey I’ve taken,” she told the outlet. “I feel healthy. I feel happy. I feel at peace.”

A Relationship Years in the Making

Although Gomez and Blanco only began dating last year, they’ve known each other for years. The two even collaborated in 2019 on the song I Can’t Get Enough with J. Balvin and Tainy.

During a livestream with Kai Cenat on Tuesday, Blanco revealed that they’d been friends for “over 10 years” before Gomez made the first move.
“She asked me to hang out,” he said. “It was crazy.”

However, given their close friendship, Blanco admitted he didn’t even realize they were dating at first.
“She was like, ‘Oh, I’ll wear something different for this date,’” he recalled. “And I was like, ‘Wait, what? This is a date?’ I had no idea.”

After their successful dinner, Gomez asked to hang out again, and that’s when Blanco realized she might actually “like” him.
“I just kissed her, and the rest is history,” he said. “She’s my best friend.”
