Lil Wayne Once Thought YSL Mondo Was a Thief

YSL Mondo recently shared his thoughts on the relationship between Lil Wayne and Young Thug when they first met. During an interview with VladTV, Mondo reflected on the early days of Young Thug’s career, particularly when he wasn’t as prominent as he is today. Mondo began the story by mentioning the difficulty of catching a robbery case that Thug had to face as he began to rise to fame. He also shared a memorable moment with Rich Homie Quan, who had sent money to Mondo when he was in prison, describing Quan as a “brother.”

Lil Wayne’s Initial Distance from Young Thug

Regarding the relationship between Thug and Lil Wayne, Mondo explained that when they first met, Wayne appeared to be quite distant. He recalled sitting in the same room as Lil Wayne, but Wayne would simply walk past them without acknowledging their presence. Mondo believed that Wayne saw them as insignificant, viewing them as “just little black kids.” However, Mondo didn’t think that Wayne disliked them, but rather, that he just didn’t consider them important in his world. Mondo added, “I think maybe Wayne thought this young guy was going to steal from him, but maybe I was wrong.”

Birdman and Young Thug’s Relationship with Wayne

Mondo also discussed a situation where Birdman brought Young Thug closer to Wayne, which might have led Wayne to think that Thug was trying to imitate him or follow his style. Still, Mondo admitted that this was just his perspective at the time, and he wasn’t certain about Wayne’s real motivations.

Despite this, Mondo confirmed that Young Thug has always admired Lil Wayne. This comment came after Young Thug was released from jail in October after pleading guilty in the YSL RICO case, a case that had kept him behind bars since his initial arrest in 2022.
