This statement comes after reports that artists Charli XCX and Julia Michaels are writing lyrics for a new album by Spears. However, it has been noted that Britney Spears has not recorded any tracks yet, as the “project is just starting to take shape.”

Michaels and Spears have collaborated on several projects in the past, including the song “Slumber Party” from her most recent album, Glory (2016).

Writing Music Just for Fun

In her post, Britney Spears mentioned that she continues to write music “for fun or for others.” According to Spears, fans who have read her memoir The Woman in Me – released on October 24 – will know that she has written over 20 songs for various artists in the past two years, referring to herself as a ghostwriter—a songwriter who does not receive credit for the work.

Since 2022, Britney Spears has released two singles, including Hold Me Closer—a collaboration with Elton John—and Mind Your Business (featuring will.i.am). “Hold Me Closer” reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 globally in August 2023, marking her return after 13 years of being under her father’s conservatorship. However, the collaboration with will.i.am received criticism from industry experts for its vulgar lyrics.

Britney Spears, 43 years old, is well-known for her hits like Baby One More Time, Oops!… I Did It Again, and Toxic. Throughout her career, she has released nine studio albums, won one Grammy, and received eight Billboard awards.

Britney Spears was under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears, from 2008 until November 2021, following numerous personal scandals. She has experienced three failed marriages with Jason Allen Alexander, Kevin Federline, and Sam Asghari.
