Halle Bailey Apologizes for ‘Overreacting’ to Son Halo’s Livestream Appearance
Halle Bailey, the actress behind The Little Mermaid’s Ariel, has openly reflected on her reaction to her 9-month-old son Halo being shown during a livestream on Kai Cenat‘s Twitch channel. The incident, which took place on Nov. 6 during Cenat’s “Mafiathon 2” stream, stirred up strong emotions from Bailey, leading her to express her frustration on social media.
What Happened During the Livestream?
On the livestream, Bailey’s ex-boyfriend, DDG, appeared with their son Halo and briefly showed him on camera. The moment was captured and later posted on Cenat’s YouTube channel. Bailey, who was out of town at the time, expressed that she was “extremely upset” upon discovering that her child had been shown to millions without her prior knowledge or consent.
Bailey’s Initial Reaction on Social Media
After the stream aired, Bailey took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her frustration. She shared her feelings of being blindsided, writing, “I wasn’t told or notified and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people.” She also expressed her concern for her child’s privacy, especially while she was away: “I am his mother and protector and saddened that I wasn’t notified especially when I am out of town.”
Reflecting on Her Emotions
However, on Nov. 7, Bailey took to social media again to reflect on her initial reaction. “Yesterday maybe I did overreact and shouldn’t have brought it here,” she admitted. She went on to acknowledge that her son was safe with his father, DDG, and thanked Kai Cenat for the gifts he had sent for Halo. Bailey clarified that her upset stemmed from the lack of communication regarding the appearance of her son, saying, “I just don’t like finding out with the rest of the world what my baby is doing.”
Bailey’s Anxiety About Being Away from Halo
In a separate post from October 2023, Bailey had previously opened up about the anxiety she feels when traveling for work without her son Halo. “Flying tonight to be somewhere for one day but having crippling anxiety without my son,” she shared, revealing the emotional toll that being away from Halo takes on her.
A New Chapter for Bailey and DDG
Bailey and DDG welcomed Halo in December 2023. However, the couple announced their split in early October 2024. Despite their breakup, Bailey’s concern for her son’s privacy remains a priority, and her emotional response to the livestream appearance is a reflection of her protective instincts as a mother.
A Mother’s Protectiveness in the Spotlight
While Bailey’s initial reaction to Halo’s unexpected livestream appearance was strong, she has since expressed understanding of the situation. Her message highlights the delicate balance of privacy and public life for parents in the spotlight. As a mother, her instinct to protect her child and her desire for communication with those around her remains at the forefront of her thoughts.
