Eminem Expresses Love for Cardi B: ‘I Was Like That Too’
Rap royalty Eminem has always been known for his candidness and raw honesty, both in his music and his interviews. But in a recent conversation, the Detroit rapper turned his attention to Cardi B, expressing his admiration for the Bronx-born sensation. In a heartfelt moment, Em shared his thoughts on her unapologetic attitude and fearless presence in the industry, calling back to his own early days in the spotlight.
A Mutual Love
Speaking with DJ Whoo Kid on Shade 45 for the channel’s 20th-anniversary celebration on Christmas Day (December 25), Eminem reflected on Cardi’s unapologetic personality and fearless approach to fame.
Whoo Kid mentioned that Cardi often stopped by the station in her early days, enthusiastically expressing her admiration for Eminem. In response, Eminem didn’t hold back: “I love Cardi too,” he said.
When Em’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, chimed in, noting that Cardi “doesn’t care at all,” Eminem agreed, adding, “Not even a little bit.”
Rosenberg continued, “She says exactly what she thinks and isn’t afraid of anyone.” To that, Eminem replied: “I was like that too.”
Rumors of a Collab Gone Wrong
Back in 2021, rumors swirled that Eminem had turned down a request to collaborate on Cardi B’s sophomore album. According to a fan account, the Detroit rapper allegedly rejected the offer, claiming Cardi “doesn’t care about the culture or her craft.”
However, Cardi quickly shut down the speculation in no uncertain terms.
“BIG LIES,” she wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “I get off the internet, and you’re making up lies. I haven’t sent songs to any artist. Love his work and much respect. This doesn’t even make sense.”
She went on to address the obsession with creating drama around her: “Since y’all love making up BIG LIES about me cause you’re so obsessed, know that you’re laughing at a fake rumor, but wait till you see the collaborations coming. The truth… I leave for one day, and they’re like ‘damn, I miss that b****, let me make up a lie so I have a reason to talk about her.’”
What’s Next for Cardi?
Though Cardi’s second album didn’t drop in 2021—or in the years since—the rapper has promised her fans that the follow-up to her debut album, Invasion of Privacy (2018), is finally set for release in 2025.
Fans have eagerly awaited new music from Cardi, whose debut album smashed records and solidified her as one of hip-hop’s biggest stars. Whether Eminem will feature on the long-anticipated project remains to be seen, but the mutual respect between the two artists is undeniable.
A Meeting of Icons
Eminem’s praise for Cardi B is yet another example of how the music industry’s heavyweights continue to break barriers and embrace the raw authenticity that defines today’s artists. As Cardi prepares to launch her next era, fans can only hope that the mutual love between these two rap icons might lead to an unforgettable collaboration in the future.
Stay tuned, because in the world of Eminem and Cardi B, anything is possible.
