Children’s Desire for Angelina Jolie to Defend Herself
Children’s Desire for Angelina Jolie to Defend Herself
The children of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are urging their mother to speak out more publicly in order to defend herself in their ongoing divorce battle.
Angelina Jolie’s Children Urge Her to Speak Out Publicly in Divorce Battle
“She has tried her best to shine after a dark period,” a close source to the actress Maria shared. “The children grew up and saw that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices don’t matter. Their pain has been overlooked.”
“They want her to speak out, to defend herself over the years, but she reminds them to focus on changing the law rather than telling stories to the public,” the source added.
Jolie and Pitt’s Relationship Timeline
Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 61, met while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005 and later married in 2014. They have six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 16.
Divorce Filing and Allegations
On September 19, 2016, Jolie filed for divorce, a decision that followed a private flight in which Pitt was accused of being drunk and mistreating her and their children. He was not charged by authorities after investigations at the time, and Jolie declined to file a lawsuit.
Confidential Agreements and Custody Case
According to a statement at that time, in 2017, both actors “signed agreements to protect the privacy of their children and their family by keeping all court documents confidential and hiring a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions.”
Documents obtained in 2018 indicated that Jolie could risk losing primary custody of her children if she did not take steps to improve their relationship with their father. Eventually, the custody trial “resulted in the judge granting Pitt 50-50 custody,” according to a Pitt source, although the private judge overseeing their case was later dismissed by an appeals court, and the ruling was deemed invalid.
