Mukesh Ambani’s $150 Million Boeing BBJ 737 Max 9: The Ultimate Private Jet
Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, has elevated his luxury aviation game with the acquisition of a $150 million Boeing BBJ 737 Max 9. This state-of-the-art jet, designed for ultra-long-range travel, has been customized into his personal flying palace, marking a significant milestone in Ambani’s expansive fleet of business jets.
A Customized Marvel
Typically configured to carry 220 passengers, Ambani’s Boeing BBJ 737 Max 9 has been meticulously modified to suit his exclusive needs, making it one of the most extravagant private jets owned by an Indian tycoon. With a base price of $118 million before customization, this aircraft is now the most expensive private jet in India, showcasing Ambani’s penchant for luxury and innovation.
Arrival in India
After extensive modifications and test flights, the 737 Max 9 arrived in India on August 27, registered with the Indian Civil Aviation under the code VT-AVK, replacing its previous registration in San Marino. While the jet hasn’t yet entered service, speculation suggests it will soon be relocated to Mumbai, where the Ambani family resides.
Luxurious Interior Features
The jet was initially flown to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg in Switzerland for its luxurious cabin upgrades. Although the completed interior remains a closely guarded secret, it is expected to be outfitted with the finest materials and amenities. With a sprawling 1,120-square-foot cabin, the aircraft will offer lavish bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms featuring rainfall showers, as well as multiple communal spaces for relaxation and entertainment. The 737 Max 9 stands as the largest member of Boeing’s BBJ Max family, ensuring ample space for every luxury imaginable.
Striking Exterior Design
On the exterior, Ambani’s jet showcases a sophisticated livery of white, navy blue, and gold, prominently featuring the Reliance Industries logo on the tail. Before arriving in India, the jet underwent a series of test flights between Basel, Geneva, and London to ensure that every upgrade was perfectly executed.
The Future of Luxury Aviation in India
While Ambani’s private jet is the first BBJ 737 Max in India, it certainly won’t be the last. Indian billionaire Gautam Adani is also preparing to take delivery of a Boeing 737 Max 8, further elevating the country’s luxury aviation scene. With these acquisitions, India is poised to become a significant player in the world of private aviation.
