Jorge Martin’s Hungary Heroics: Aprilia Just One Step Away from the Podium

Aprilia Racing left Hungary with their heads held high after a spectacular showing at Balaton Park, where Marco Bezzecchi clinched third place and teammate Jorge Martín stormed through the field to finish fourth. The result not only gave Aprilia their seventh podium of the 2025 MotoGP season but also underlined the Italian brand’s growing strength among the championship’s top contenders.

Bezzecchi extends podium streak

Marco Bezzecchi continues to prove himself as one of the most consistent riders on the grid. From the very first corner of Sunday’s race, the Italian was in attack mode, snatching the lead and dictating the pace for a large portion of the race. While tyre degradation eventually forced him to surrender positions in the final stages, Bezzecchi never lost focus, securing third place at the chequered flag.

It was a podium of great significance, not only because it marked Aprilia’s seventh of the year but also because it represented Bezzecchi’s third consecutive podium – the longest streak of his premier-class career. His adaptation to the RS-GP25 has been seamless, and his ability to manage races under pressure shows why Aprilia invested heavily in bringing him onboard.

Reflecting on the performance, Bezzecchi admitted that tyre choice was key to his race. “Today’s race was anything but easy. The soft tyre wore more than I expected, but it was the only one that allowed me to stop well under braking. I know I gave my all, so I’m really pleased with this podium.”

Martín fights through the field

If Bezzecchi’s podium was a display of consistency, Jorge Martín’s ride was all about grit and determination. Starting from a lowly 16th on the grid after a difficult qualifying session, the Spaniard showcased the aggressive but calculated racing that earned him the nickname “Martinator”.

Lap by lap, Martín sliced through the pack, overtaking rivals with precision while maintaining a relentless rhythm. By the halfway mark, he was already on the fringes of the top six. From there, he continued to push, ultimately crossing the line in fourth place – his best result yet since joining Aprilia Racing.

For Martín, it was not just about points, but about proving that the RS-GP25 has the potential to compete at the very front, even from challenging starting positions. “Starting 16th wasn’t easy, but I had a clear plan for the first laps. I quickly made up positions and then focused on keeping my rhythm. Finishing fourth is a fantastic result, and I’m happy for the whole team. We’ve taken a huge step forward.”

Aprilia’s rising momentum in MotoGP 2025

The double top-four result in Hungary represents far more than just a strong race day for Aprilia – it signals that the Noale-based manufacturer is firmly establishing itself as a consistent front-runner in MotoGP 2025. With Bezzecchi delivering podiums week after week and Martín already proving his capability to turn difficult starts into stellar finishes, the RS-GP25 project looks increasingly competitive.

Historically, Aprilia has often struggled to match the firepower of Ducati, Yamaha, and KTM in the premier class. Yet, with continuous development and a rider lineup that blends experience, youth, and determination, the Italian marque is carving out its place in the championship battle.

Martín’s fourth place also carries historical weight for the brand. Not since Tetsuya Harada in 1999 at Paul Ricard had an Aprilia rider managed a top-four finish within their first four races with the team. That statistic alone underlines how quickly Martín has adapted and how competitive the 2025 RS-GP truly is.

Looking ahead

As the MotoGP season moves forward, Aprilia’s growing momentum cannot be ignored. Bezzecchi’s ability to consistently place on the podium makes him a potential dark horse in the title fight, while Martín’s rapid integration and upward trajectory promise even stronger results to come.

With seven podiums already under their belt this season, Aprilia has firmly positioned itself as more than just a challenger – they are now a serious contender for wins and, potentially, the championship. If development continues on the same trajectory, Hungary could be remembered as the turning point where Aprilia cemented themselves among MotoGP’s elite in 2025.
