Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s Luxurious Mediterranean Vacation on the $485 Million Superyacht Koru

Recently, billionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez embarked on an opulent vacation in the Mediterranean aboard the stunning superyacht Koru, valued at a staggering $485 million—an amount that would take an average person a lifetime to earn.

A Star-Studded Experience

With its vast size and Bezos’s immense fame, the Koru attracted numerous A-list celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Leonardo DiCaprio with his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, and Orlando Bloom. The yacht’s itinerary included stops in several European countries, such as Greece, Italy, and Spain, with a visit to the remote Menorca island in the Balearic Islands.

The Meaning Behind Koru

The name Koru, derived from Maori in New Zealand, translates to “new beginnings,” symbolizing the opportunity to leave the past behind and embrace a luxurious life on the ocean. The superyacht measures over 127 meters, ranking 32nd among the largest yachts in the world, with annual operating costs of $25 million.

Features of the Koru

Constructed in the Netherlands in 2021 and delivered in 2023, the Koru can accommodate 18 guests and has a crew of 40 to manage its extensive services.

The yacht’s bow features a striking sculpture of the goddess Freyja, a nod to Bezos’s admiration for this mythological character, embodying protection throughout their journey. Freyja, known in Norse mythology, symbolizes love, fertility, wealth, and war.

High-Tech Innovations

Billionaire Jeff Bezos has incorporated high-tech features on the Koru, including large tarpaulins stored at the base of the masts above the deck. The three towering masts, reaching nearly 70 meters, provide sufficient power for speeds of 20 knots, making it the largest yacht owned by Bezos that operates solely on wind power.

Support Vessel Abeona

Since the superyacht does not have a helipad, Bezos has included a support vessel named Abeona, named after the Roman goddess, costing $75 million. In addition to serving as a helipad, Abeona is over 74 meters long and features two guest cabins for four guests, accommodating up to 45 crew members and support staff. The yacht is equipped with at least four jet skis, two speedboats, and one inflatable boat.
