Confirms by Doechii Debut Album for 2025: ‘All I Can Think About Is This Album’
Rising Hip Hop star Doechii has announced that her highly anticipated debut album will be released in 2025. Following the success of her critically acclaimed mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) artist shared her plans for the upcoming project in an interview with Variety published on December 6.
The Focus on Her First LP
While Alligator Bites Never Heal cemented her place as a breakout artist, Doechii emphasized that the project was a mixtape rather than her official debut album. Speaking to Variety, she expressed her excitement and dedication to her forthcoming LP:
“All I can think about is this album, so I’m just looking forward to making more hits, making more music, and achieving more of my goals,” she said.
The album will feature live instrumentation, reflecting her vision for pushing creative boundaries.
A Year of Career-Defining Moments
2024 has been monumental for Doechii, showcasing her versatility and artistry through Grammy nominations, TV appearances, and a captivating Tiny Desk Concert. Most recently, on December 4, she delivered a spellbinding medley performance from her mixtape on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Her self-choreographed performance featured two dancers dressed in matching Gucci skirts and paid homage to Hip Hop legend MF DOOM by incorporating quotes from his 2011 Red Bull Music Academy lecture.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Doechii described the performance as a celebration of Hip Hop and Black women:“This one is for Hip Hop. I felt heavily inspired by the lineage of Hip Hop and how it contributes to who I am today.”
A Tribute to Hip Hop and Black Women
Doechii’s Colbert performance was not only a showcase of her talent but also a statement about her connection to Hip Hop culture and Blackness. She highlighted her collaboration with hair artist Malcolm Marquez and stylist Sam Woolf to create a look that embodied the essence of Hip Hop while exuding luxury and history. “This is my take on the future of Hip Hop. This is Blackness. This is luxury. This is history,” she wrote, celebrating the performance as symbolic art.
A Glimpse Into the Future of Hip Hop
Doechii has been vocal about her belief in pushing the boundaries of Hip Hop. With her innovative style and commitment to honoring the genre’s roots, she aims to redefine its future. In her post-performance reflections, she credited inspirations like Solange, Carlota Guerrero, and MF DOOM for influencing her creative direction. “This is my first self-choreographed performance, and one of the most important things I wanted to highlight was my connection to Black women through Hip Hop,” she shared.
What Fans Can Expect in 2025
As fans eagerly await Doechii’s debut album, her dedication to creating something groundbreaking is evident. With a promise of live instrumentation and a focus on celebrating the legacy and evolution of Hip Hop, the album is poised to be a landmark in her career.
Her work so far — from Alligator Bites Never Heal to her genre-defying performances — has solidified her as one of Hip Hop’s most exciting new voices. With her debut album on the horizon, Doechii is ready to take her artistry to the next level and continue shaping the future of Hip Hop.
