Kodak Black Shuts Down Rumors About Converting to Islam
Kodak Black is setting the record straight after rumors surfaced claiming he converted to Islam. The Florida rapper has denied the speculation and reaffirmed his identity as a Hebrew Israelite, making his stance clear on social media and in a recent video.
The Rumor That Sparked Controversy
The rumors began earlier this week when pictures of Kodak on a prayer rug in what appeared to be a mosque went viral. The images led many to believe he had embraced Islam. However, Kodak clarified the situation, explaining that the photos were taken at the request of celebrity dentist “Bollywood” Saif Shere.
“No disrespect to the Muslim community but I am [sic] Hebrew Israelite,” Kodak wrote on social media. “I feel very disrespected by the blog and [Shere] for allowing them to run with a narrative that I’ve converted to Islam! Simply him asking me personally to take a picture on his prayer rug.”
Kodak’s Response to the Rumors
Kodak shared a detailed video response, elaborating on his earlier statement.
“I always say I like the literature, but I ain’t no f***ing Muslim,” he said. “Other n-ggas do that, turn Muslim out of nowhere. No disrespect to Muslims, no disrespect to any religion. I can’t tell you you’re wrong for being Christian. I can’t tell you you’re wrong for being Muslim. You can’t tell me I’m wrong for being Hebrew Israelite.”
Kodak emphasized that the viral image was taken out of context. “All y’all saw was a picture of me prostrating,” he said, addressing critics who he believes intentionally twisted the narrative. He also condemned fans posting selective photos to create a false perception, stating, “I never said I’m Muslim.”
What It Means to Be a Hebrew Israelite
The Hebrew Israelite movement, which Kodak identifies with, asserts that African Americans are descendants of the ancient Israelites. For Kodak, this identity is central to his beliefs and personal journey. His latest remarks underline his commitment to his faith while respecting other religions.
Anticipating Backlash
Kodak Black is no stranger to controversy and seemed unfazed by the spread of false rumors. Reflecting on his experiences in the industry, he predicted a possible backlash similar to what Drake faced during his feud with Kendrick Lamar.
“One day these n-ggas gon’ try to do me like Drake,” Kodak said during an Instagram Live session. “Like they did Drake. Whole little hate Kodak campaign. Everybody who hate Kodak to the left. You see these n-ggas campaigning and s***.”
Despite the negativity, Kodak maintains confidence in himself and his circle. “But it’s love. They show like, I’m impressive. I’m a great friend to have and I ain’t friendly,” he added.
A Clear Message
Kodak Black’s response to the Islam rumors is a powerful reminder of his commitment to his identity and beliefs. While he respects other religions, he has made it clear that he stands firm as a Hebrew Israelite. As the rapper continues to navigate fame and controversy, he remains unapologetic and steadfast in his truth.
