Miley Cyrus Opens Up About Fire Tragedy in LA, Six Years After Losing Her Malibu Home

Miley Cyrus has expressed her heartfelt sorrow for the victims of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, six years after her own Malibu home was reduced to ashes in the 2018 Woolsey Fire.

The “Flowers” singer, now 32, shared an emotional post on Instagram on Saturday, describing the ongoing devastation as “heartbreaking.”

Wildfires Rage Across Los Angeles

The latest wildfires, including the Pacific Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, erupted earlier this week amid fierce Santa Ana winds. These fires have wreaked havoc, claiming homes and lives. Notable victims include celebrities like Miles Teller, Mel Gibson, and Paris Hilton.

Cyrus shared a haunting image of what remained of her former Malibu residence, a house she had once shared with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. Reflecting on the image, she wrote, “This photo hit me hard today. It’s the porch of my home after it was lost in the Woolsey Fire in 2018.”

“It’s a feeling you never forget. Walking up to the door you once entered daily, expecting to be greeted by loved ones, only to find ash and ruins instead.”

Miley’s Emotional Plea

Miley’s heartfelt post continued: “My heart aches for those witnessing this destruction firsthand, and I’m crying for my city. Los Angeles, often synonymous with ‘dreams,’ now faces a stark reality of rubble and despair.”

In her message, she also directed fans to organizations she’s supporting, sharing links to initiatives providing aid to wildfire survivors. Among these is the Malibu Foundation, a charity Cyrus helped establish following the 2018 Woolsey Fire.

The foundation focuses on “comprehensive, needs-based relief” for victims, prioritizing vulnerable populations such as low-income families, seniors, and the uninsured.

The Numbers Behind the Flames

The Pacific Palisades Fire, which started on Tuesday morning, has destroyed an estimated 5,300 structures, including homes, schools, and churches. According to NBC News, as of Saturday evening, the fire had burned approximately 22,660 acres. Similarly, the Eaton Fire near Altadena and Pasadena has ravaged 13,956 acres, leaving 7,000 structures in ashes.

Over 100,000 residents remain under evacuation orders as firefighters battle the blazes, with high winds expected to worsen conditions early next week.

A Painful Reminder of the Past

Cyrus’s Malibu home, a victim of the 2018 Woolsey Fire, was destroyed alongside 96,949 acres and 1,643 other structures. While the singer wasn’t home during the fire, her then-partner Liam Hemsworth evacuated safely, rescuing their pets. Reflecting on the experience, Miley shared, “It’s a feeling you never forget… I was one of the lucky ones. My pets and the love of my life got out safely, and that’s all that mattered at the time.”

Six years later, the memories remain vivid. In a TikTok video from 2023, Cyrus revisited the significance of her Malibu home, where she had written her debut album, “Meet Miley Cyrus”. “That house held so much magic,” she said. “Ultimately, it changed my life.”

Community Support and Resilience

As wildfires continue to rage across Southern California, more than 1,680 National Guard troops have been deployed to assist. Tragically, the death toll has risen to 13, with thousands left homeless. Despite the devastation, stories of resilience and community support are emerging.

Among the stars who lost their homes are Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Milo Ventimiglia, while others, like James Woods, have been fortunate.

Miley’s Call to Action

Miley ended her post with a message of hope and resilience: “You can rebuild physical structures, but love—that indestructible force—always remains. Let’s come together to heal and rebuild. Sending love, Miley.”

Her words echo the strength of a community coming together to rise from the ashes, proving that even in destruction, there is hope.
