N.O.R.E. Responds to Dame Dash’s ‘Lame’ Remarks Over JAY-Z & Drink Champs Controversy
N.O.R.E. has responded to Dame Dash’s recent criticism of JAY-Z and his Drink Champs podcast. Dash took aim at the popular podcast in a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, where he discussed Jay’s ongoing legal battles and implied that N.O.R.E.’s platform couldn’t help his former business partner through the controversy.
In the interview, Dame expressed that JAY-Z’s reputation was in jeopardy, suggesting that Jay should seek the support of mainstream media outlets like People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight to navigate the situation. He dismissed Drink Champs as ineffective in defending Hov, mentioning that the podcast and its host, N.O.R.E., could not salvage the situation.
N.O.R.E. Claps Back on Instagram and Video
N.O.R.E. quickly hit back at Dame Dash’s remarks, calling him a “lame” and referring to him as “more clueless than Stacey” — a reference to the character from the 1990s teen comedy Clueless. The rapper then posted a video on his Instagram, where he directly addressed Dame’s comments.
In the video, N.O.R.E. expressed frustration with Dash’s ongoing attacks, stating, “You’ve been coming at me. You think I ain’t got time. I’m not like these other people. I got time.” He emphasized that while he had always tried to show respect to Dame, the former Roc-A-Fella co-founder had made things personal by disrespecting not just him, but others in Jay’s circle as well. N.O.R.E. added, “You became the Lame Dash. We don’t wanna disrespect you. And I’m trying not to as much as I can because I actually respect the shit out of you.”
He ended his message with an olive branch, saying, “My number’s the same if you wanna work it out,” signaling that he was open to resolving the tension.
Background of the Beef Between N.O.R.E. and Dame Dash
This isn’t the first time N.O.R.E. and Dame Dash have clashed. The tension between them dates back to 2020 when Dame Dash accused N.O.R.E. of attempting to force him into drinking Cîroc on Drink Champs, a brand linked to Diddy, which Dash skeptically claimed was part of an agenda to “turn Hip Hop gay.” N.O.R.E. rejected the accusations, stating that Dash was throwing “little fake shots” at him and reaffirmed that he was never paid for work done on Roc-A-Fella movies and soundtracks.
The relationship between N.O.R.E. and Jay-Z also has its history, with Dame Dash revealing that Jay-Z had once advised him not to sign N.O.R.E. to Roc-A-Fella. Despite this, Dash went on to feature N.O.R.E. in the State Property 2 movie, citing his decision as an effort to integrate N.O.R.E. into the Roc-A-Fella family. However, Dame implied that N.O.R.E. had not been financially compensated for his contributions at the time.
The Ongoing Rift and N.O.R.E.’s Response
N.O.R.E. has consistently denied the allegations and defended his position. He clarified that despite any personal differences, his intention was never to disrespect Dame Dash. His latest response is a continuation of their ongoing back-and-forth, where N.O.R.E. is clearly frustrated with the narrative Dash has been pushing.
Despite their differences, N.O.R.E. appears open to reconciliation, offering a path forward should Dame wish to settle their issues privately. However, the public feud between the two continues to simmer, making for an ongoing saga in hip hop’s business circles.
