Kid Cudi Announces He’s Leaving Twitter, Embraces Disconnecting for Mental Clarity
Kid Cudi is stepping away from social media, including X (formerly Twitter), and he’s feeling liberated. On December 19, the influential rapper shared his decision with fans, explaining that his time on the platform had come to an end.
“I think my time is done on twitter,” he wrote, signaling a shift in his relationship with online platforms. Cudi clarified that while he would continue to update his fans through Instagram Stories, his overall presence on social media would be significantly reduced.
“I see too much bullshit on here and life is much cooler being disconnected,” Cudi added. “I think I’ve been too accessible. Now when you hear from me, it’ll be through my art.”
This change marks a more introspective phase for the artist, who has always been known for his vulnerable and authentic approach to life and music. Cudi emphasized that he wants to focus more on his work rather than engaging in online noise.
Upcoming Projects: Cudi’s Memoir and Artistic Evolution
While Cudi is stepping back from social media, he’s still busy working on meaningful projects, the biggest of which is his upcoming memoir, titled Cudi: The Memoir. The book will be released on August 5, 2025, and pre-orders are already available.
In a recent post, Cudi shared that reading the first draft of his memoir has been an emotional journey.
“My story is so unique and real and raw and truly one of a kind,” he said. “It reads like a fairy tale, it’s crazy.”
Cudi has been open about the difficulties he faced growing up, including the loss of his father at age 11. The memoir promises to offer an unfiltered look at his life, explaining how his struggles shaped both his music and public persona.
Reflecting on His Past: The Troubled Boy Who Captivated Millions
Back in September 2022, Kid Cudi shared that he was working on the book, which would delve deep into his early life and the experiences that led to his troubled boy persona. For Cudi, sharing these deeply personal stories hasn’t been easy.
“Tellin my story in my own words is scary, but I feel like it needs to be told,” he wrote, adding that the book would help his fans understand why they met “such a troubled boy in the beginning.”
Why Kid Cudi’s Break from Social Media Matters
Kid Cudi’s decision to scale back his social media presence reflects a larger trend among artists and influencers taking back control of their mental health. By reducing online distractions and focusing on his art, Cudi is creating a boundary between his personal life and the public’s expectations.
This move highlights a growing movement in entertainment where artists prioritize their well-being over the need for constant visibility. As Cudi puts it, life outside of social media is simply “much cooler.” Cudi — who lost his father to cancer at the age of 11, and whose deeply vulnerable and confessional music has won him an army of adoring fans — admitted he was nervous about lifting the lid on his private life.
“Started writing the first chapter of my book,” he wrote at the time. “Its comin together really well. Tellin my story in my own words is scary, but I feel like it needs to be told. I feel like everything will make a lil more sense as to why you all met such a troubled boy in the beginning.”
