Liam Payne’s Ex and Current Girlfriend Attend His Funeral

Singer Cheryl Cole, Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend, and his current partner, Kate Cassidy, both attended the funeral of the late artist in England on November 20.

Among friends and colleagues at the funeral held in Home Counties, Cheryl, 41, was seen paying her respects to Liam. Dressed in a black dress with a long coat, sunglasses, and loose hair covering her somber face, she attended and departed alone.

Cheryl also appeared to have prepared a special floral tribute for her son to honor his father. A white wreath spelling out Daddy was carried into the church by staff.

Cheryl and Liam shared a seven-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, from their relationship, which lasted from 2015 to 2018. Despite their split, the two maintained an amicable relationship to co-parent their son. Liam had previously shared in an interview that he visited Bear weekly to stay close.

After Liam’s death, Cheryl expressed her grief on social media, writing that their son is facing the harsh reality of never seeing his father again. “This is a pain and loss that words cannot describe,” she wrote.

Kate Cassidy’s Heartfelt Tribute

Liam’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, attended the private funeral accompanied by her friend, model Damian Hurley. The 25-year-old social media influencer wore an all-black outfit, including a maxi dress, boots, and a fur-collared coat.

Kate had been deeply affected by Liam’s passing, with friends supporting her through the devastating loss. She and Liam had spent time together in Argentina in early October, attending concerts and traveling before she returned to the U.S. for work on October 14. Just two days later, Liam tragically fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

“I’m completely lost,” Kate wrote on Instagram on October 18. “It feels like nothing over the past few days is real. Liam, you were everything to me. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally with all my heart, and I will continue to love you for the rest of my life.”

A Private Goodbye

Liam Payne’s funeral was a private affair attended by family, friends, and colleagues. His former One Direction bandmates—Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson—reunited to bid farewell to their friend, with whom they shared six years of band history.

Music mogul Simon Cowell, actor James Corden, and several other artists were also present to honor the late singer.
